It also belongs to high carbon, high chromium alloy tool steel and vacuum degassing refined steel. The steel is pure, the hardenability is good, the quenching deformation is small, and the hardenability is good. The steel is softened by spheroidizing annealing and has good machinability. The carbide particles are fine and uniform. There is no need to worry about special additions of molybdenum and vanadium, which are quench crack strengthening elements.

Six. Product Detailed Information

SKD11 mold steel is a general-purpose cold work tool steel with high wear resistance and high toughness. It also belongs to high carbon, high chromium alloy tool steel and vacuum degassing refined steel. Its steel is pure, with good hardenability, small quenching deformation and good hardenability. The steel is softened by spheroidizing annealing, with good machinability and fine and uniform carbide particles. Due to the special addition of molybdenum and vanadium, there is no need to worry about undesired phenomena such as cracking after quenching.

SKD11 mold steel is produced by Hitachi and Daido Steel. The unique technologies of the Japanese smelting industry are distributed in various smelters in Japan. In order to meet the needs of some Taiwan-funded and Japanese-funded enterprises, SKD11 mold steel of Japanese JIS standard was introduced at the same time, and similar materials were also imported from various Japanese brands, such as Hitachi Metal SLD mold steel (the latest improved version is called SLD-MAGIC), Datong Special Steel DC11 mold steel, etc.

China, but the brand is very famous, so the price of similar JIS standard material is relatively high. JIS standard SKD11 series mold steel is a widely used air-cooled hardening cold work mold steel, all smelted by electric furnace and electroslag remelting technology. High purity, good toughness, uniform structure, high temperature strength, toughness and high temperature fatigue resistance, and can withstand sudden changes in temperature.

SKD11 mold steel has excellent properties such as high hardness, high wear resistance, uniform eutectic carbide, good toughness and crack resistance. The hardness after quenching can reach 62HRC.

The specific properties are as follows:

1. Good high temperature strength and toughness, better wear resistance, easy cutting.

2. Cold work mold steel with good balance of strength, toughness and heat resistance.

3. Vacuum degassing and refining, the internal quality is extremely clean.

4. Good machinability.

5. Good hardenability, can be hardened by air cooling, no need to worry about quenching cracks.

6. The heat treatment deformation is very small, the quenching deviation is small, and it is most suitable for molds with precision requirements.

7. Good wear resistance, most suitable for punching molds of stainless steel or high-hard materials.

8. Good toughness.

9. The mold life is longer and the performance is more stable.

10. It is easy to process, and the deformation of heat treatment is small.

SKD11 mold steel imported from Japan is mainly used for: aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy Mold-casting molds, slotting knives, scissors and hot forging action, plastic molds, hot work reamers, hob, hot forging molds, hot bolt molds, hot various tools , manufacturing plastic molds, circular saw blades, metal stamping molds, forming rollers, manufacturing cold or hot edge trimming molds, roller edges, thread molds, wire molds, transformer core molds, cutting steel hob, steel pipe forming rolls, special forming tubes, Nail head mold, etc.

Processing:

1. Cryogenic treatment: Generally, in order to avoid the aging change caused by the decomposition of retained austenite, it is necessary to force the decomposition of retained austenite through cryogenic treatment. In order to obtain the highest hardness and dimensional stability of SKD11 mold steel, the mold or workpiece manufactured by SKD11 needs to be quenched at (-70) degrees Celsius to (-80) degrees Celsius immediately after quenching, kept for 3~4 hours, and then tempered, The hardness of the tool or mold after cryogenic treatment is 1~3 HRC higher than that of conventional heat treatment. For parts with complex shapes and large dimensional changes, cryogenic treatment can cause cracking.

2. Nitriding treatment: After the mold or workpiece is nitrided, a hardened structure with high hardness and certain corrosion resistance is formed on the surface. The surface hardness of the workpiece treated by nitriding at 525℃ is about 1250HV. The surface hardness of the nitrocarburized workpiece at 570°C is about 950HV. Generally 2 hours of soft nitriding treatment, the depth of hardened layer can reach 10~20um. Grinding cracks are prone to occur when grinding mold blanks or working in a low temperature tempering state. In order to prevent the occurrence of cracks, small grinding feed should be used for multiple grinding, and good water cooling conditions should be added at the same time. Wire-cut molds with complex shapes or large sizes usually encounter cracks during the final wire-cutting process. To prevent cracking, it is recommended to use gas quenching and high temperature tempering to reduce heat treatment stress, or to pretreat the cavity of the mold blank.

Quenching:

Preheat at 700~750℃, then heat to 1000~1050℃ and cool in still air. For example, if a steel tool is thicker than 6 inches, it is better to heat it to 980-1030°C and harden it in oil.

Tempering:

Heat to 150~200°C, hold at this temperature, then cool in still air.

Hardness: HRC 61 or higher.

Annealing:

Heated to 800~850℃, kept at this temperature for 1~3 hours, and cooled in the furnace.

Forging:

1050~950℃

Quenching and tempering specifications:

Quenching temperature 1010 ℃, air cooling. The tempering temperature is 200℃, and the hardness is 58~60HRC.
